Going for Gold

Going for Gold

On Wednesday, 13th December 2017, Year 9s celebrated their achievements since September in their 'Going for Gold' awards evening. The evening began with a festive feel, with a Christmassy video of positive comments from teachers about individual pupils, and/or classes, about how fantastic their effort and attitudes have been.

After a video of numerous photographs of the year group, Miss Willis then presented numerous awards, ranging from Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, for the top 10 students who received the most amount of nominations. Those pupils also received gift vouchers - and a guaranteed place as a prefect in Year 11 (and Acting Prefect in Year 10). Following that, there was a 'secret' award, The 'Pride of Form' award, where one boy and one girl from each form was nominated by their form tutor for representing the best example of the school's Christian Values in their everyday conduct. These pupils won selection boxes. Finally, pupils, parents and carers were shown a video about future aspirations, featuring people in all kinds of jobs in places all over the world.

The evening was enjoyed by all and Miss Willis and Mrs Ward would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed - especially the Year 11 prefects, who were superb - and they very much look forward to the next one in the last week of the school year.

Miss Carlin performed a beautiful rendition of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and the Year 9 singers from the choir sang 'Merry Christmas, Everyone'.
