On Monday 25th September 2017, school was pleased to be visited by, the Most Revd George Takeli, Archbishop of Melanesia, his wife Mrs June Takeli and the Ven. Dr. Michael Gilbertson, Archdeacon of Chester. This visit was in recognition of the new partnership that has been recently been created between Woodchurch High School and St Nicholas Church of England College in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
After meeting the Head teacher and representatives of the Senior Leadership Team at school, our visitors toured the school building and participated in lessons. On their tour, our visitors spent time on the school farm, which was a concept that the Archbishop of Melanesia was very impressed with.
He also had the opportunity to meet with a group of children and take part in a question and answer session based around culture, faith and teaching and learning. In this discussion, the Archbishop of Melanesia expressed how pleased he was with the new partnership between the schools and his hope was for it to grow and develop into a very positive learning experience for both schools.
The Most Revd George Takeli, Archbishop of Melanesia and his wife Mrs June Takeli are visiting the UK from 14th September to the 6th October and we wish them a very enjoyable time.
