During Lights Out Fortnight, five of our GCSE Art students attended a Lights Out event at Wallasey Town Hall, to raise the profile of wildlife in our local area. Five resident artists each took a group of pupils from schools all over Wirral, to create an exhibition piece.
Each group was given a subject to focus on and the art that the pupils made filled one of these recycled lamp post covers. Woodchurch High School and Hayfield School pupils were given the natterjack toad and newts to look at and use as inspiration.
Our resident artist was the lovely Jess Keeler, who helped the girls to create their own toads and newts, to display in the recycled lampshade. Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day and are proud to raise awareness for Eco Schools.
Jess took away our toads and newts, and is working on putting together the finished piece. It will be displayed within school shortly and the pupils involved and their parents have been invited to a special event when all the pieces of art were displayed.
