On Saturday 3rd November our school was invited to speak at the Rotary District Conference at Chester Racecourse. This conference was attended by delegates of the Rotary Club from Wales up to Southport and nearly 300 people attended. We were asked to talk about the way that our charity work has evolved and the way that the Birkenhead Rotary Club has worked with us over the past few years.
Last year we were honoured to have hosted Mr Peter Davey, the President of Rotary for the UK and Ireland and the members of Rotary who attended this event were so impressed with how our pupils had engaged with Social Enterprise and Action they invited us to their conference as one of their key-note addresses.
Scott and Sadie led the presentation, with support from Laura, Billy and Matthew. They delivered a 20 minute speech about the life of our school, the work of Rotary and our dreams for the future. Rotary were so impressed by the work our pupils and school that they gave a standing ovation for our work at the end of the speech.
Later in the afternoon people added Hopes and Dreams to our tree, and also our pupils took part in a Question and Answer session with other Interact Groups from across the region with questions from Rotarians.
This was an excellent opportunity for our pupils to have had and the chance we had to network with other groups was greatly appreciated.
Below are some photographs taken throughout the day.
