RT. REV. LIBBY LANE
The Installation of the Rt. Rev. Libby Lane as Bishop of Stockport
Two of our pupils, Scott and Emily, were given the huge honour and privilege of welcoming the Right Revered Libby Lane, as Bishop of Stockport at her Installation at Chester Cathedral on Sunday 9th March 2015. This was an historic moment, as Bishop Libby is the first female bishop in the history of the Church of England.
At the service were over 2,000 invited guests, including the Lord Lieutenants of Cheshire and Gtr. Manchester, the High Sheriffs of Cheshire and Gtr. Manchester, various civic leaders, including the Mayors of Stockport, Trafford and Cheshire East, as well as the senior Diocesan and Cathedral staff team. The Lord Bishop of Chester led the service of welcome, assisted by the Bishop of Birkenhead.
During the service, along with the Lord Lieutenants, the Mayor of Stockport, and Emily and Scott were invited, on behalf of the 120+ Church of England primary and secondary schools from across the Diocese, to welcome Bishop Libby to her new ministry within the Church.
Emily and Scott read a short welcoming speech. They were an immense credit to the school and as they left the Cathedral, they were congratulated on their immaculate presentation and word-perfect speech by over 30 people!
Well done Emily and Scott, and thank you both for being such outstanding ambassadors of our school.
Message from The Venerable Dr. Mike Gilbertson, Archdeacon of Chester:
It was great to see Emily Wagstaff and Scott Henderson flying the flag for Woodchurch HS at the service in the Cathedral today. There were getting on for 2,000 people there, but Emily and Scott were not fazed at all, and welcomed Libby with dignity and humour. They were a real credit to the school.
Message from Canon Jeff Turnbull, Diocesan Director of Education:
Dear Rebekah and Lyndon
Your pupils were wonderful at today's service. They were brilliant ambassadors both for your school and all church schools in the Diocese.
Thank you for the preparation you gave them and please pass on my thanks to them.
Message from Canon Betty Renshaw MBE, Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance:
Very proud in Chester Cathedral this afternoon when the pupils from WHS welcomed Bishop Libby. Congratulations to all involved.
Message from the Rev Nikki Eastwood, Associate Vicar of Upton:
Please pass on my thanks and well done to Scott and Emily for their words and presentation yesterday. They did so well, were so clear, and were brilliant representatives of the school and as they said - all the 120 schools in the diocese. They did the school proud. All the best for the rest of term, grace and peace

Just a short note to pass on thanks to Emily and Scott for their wonderful and professional contribution to the service a week last Sunday. They both did a splendid job and they and the school should be proud of their presentation.
With best wishes, Jeremy
Letter from the Rotary District Interact Officer
Dear Ms Phillips
I felt I must write to congratulate the two Pupils who represented the school at the installation of the Bishop. They spoke clearly and well with great dignity and poise and were an asset to the school. I could see that Bishop Libby was impressed as she had a special word with them. I'm sure you are justly proud of them.
