PLACES OF WORSHIP

A group of year 8 pupils went on an educational visit to Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and Childwall Synagogue to expand their subject knowledge outside of the classroom! Pupils were able to explore the different places of worship with a focus on symbolism and rites of passage.

In the Synagogue the pupils explored the sacred items necessary for Jewish worship. The group were lucky enough to be sent home with some challah bread, which was gratefully tasted on the journey home!

In Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral the pupils were given a guided tour of the cathedral, with a focus on symbols in a place of worship. The intimidating size of the cathedral was the focus of many of the pupils' discussions, relating the impressive building to the Mines of Moria from the Lord of the Rings series!
