Year 7 SPARKS reading intervention group proudly worked together to create a unique piece of art.

Pupils used Poppy leaves as their tools to record self researched facts about the role that animals play in war.

The reason that pupils focused on animals who have sacrificed their lives is due to the novel they are currently enjoying, which is based on a gorilla kept in captivity.

“The One and Only Ivan” has highlighted the sacrifice that animals make on a daily basis for mankind. So it seemed appropriate to explore further the role of animals such as dogs, pigeons and bats in World War 1.

The art collage is currently displayed in the Learning Resource Centre, we hope that you have the opportunity to come and see it!

A big thank you to Ms Reynolds for all her creative flair and her continuous contribution to SPARKS.
