Premier League Reading Stars match report on visit from ex-Chelsea and ex-Everton midfielder Graham "Diamond" Stuart.

You will never believe what I did last Friday, it was an amazing day (all my friends were jealous).

It was Friday 10th October and I met Graham Stuart who is an ex-Everton, ex-Chelsea, professional footballer, it really was a pleasure meeting him. He is one of my Grandads’ favourite players, how exciting!

My Mum came along with the other pupils and their parents. I sent a picture to my Grandad of me and Graham Stuart, he was really jealous and he said “You should be very proud that you have been able to meet Graham Stuart.” Grandad was so happy that I had the chance to meet his idol!

I asked Graham Stuart lots of questions such as:

  • What made you want to be a footballer?
  • Why did you change football clubs?
  • And what is your favourite book?

Graham said that he had always been mad about football since he was really young so he could never imagine doing anything else, he was talent spotted at a young age. He moved to Everton as it was part of a transfer deal, he loved playing there and remains to this day an Evertonian. His favourite book as a child and still today as an adult is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, he prefers the book to the movies although now he reads it on a kindle.

We all then went to the farm and Graham read a few pages of the book we are reading. He read it to the Alpacas and they appeared to listen and enjoy it! The bad side was my Mum embarrassing me (sorry Mum) but overall I think the experience was amazing!
