Tuesday 16th July 2019

Thursday 25 September 2014 saw our annual Awards Evening Celebrations at school. The evening is an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our young people, who are nominated for awards in each curriculum and subject area.

The evening began with Scott singing ‘December 1963 Oh What a Night’. The Headteacher, Ms. Phillips, then spoke of the wider work and achievements of the school over the past academic year.

Pupils then received their awards, which were for either achievement or effort, in each subject specialism. These awards were presented by Mr. Miro Griffiths MBE, a former pupil who left the school in 2005.

The school was delighted to welcome Mr. Griffiths back, who has achieved so much in such a short period of time, addressing the European parliament, being awarded an MBE, as well as acting as an advisor and consultant for numerous bodies and agencies, including central Government.

Mr. Griffiths then addressed the pupils, and spoke, amongst other things, of the need for them to be proud with their achievements and who they are. Our Head Boy and Girl thanked Mr. Griffiths for his time and presented him with a gift voucher.

The evening finished with staff performing ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO.
