Recently two groups of pupils have had a passion to help out others by taking buckets around the school asking people to put any loose change as donations into them.
The first charity to be supported was the BBC’s Children in Needs appeal. Just over 80 was raised in one day. Thanks to Dan and Megan for arranging this.
Shortly after the Philippines disaster struck, Erin also asked the school to fund raise for it. Not content with doing just one day’s fund raising, after a second day Erin, Kathryn, Evan, Erin, Abbie and Georgia raised an amazing 50.87. This money was passed to the DEC’s partner organisation, Tearfund, who were working on the ground with their staff within 24 hours of the crisis happening.
It is amazing to think that our pupils and staff are so generous in such difficult times. Thanks go to all the pupils who donated anything even from 2p to 1. This money really makes a difference and shows what a caring community we are and it means so much that this fund raising was inspired and organised by our pupils.
As we do our charity work we reflect on Jesus words in Matthew 25:40, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
