Following the hiving of Woodchurch Honeybees in July the two colonies have done really well with the hot weather. Staff came in over the Summer Holidays to keep an eye on the Queens and brood (baby bees). We were really happy that the bees have produced honey, and we will be extracting this next week. Here are a few images of pupils from the bee club handling the bees with our Mentors.
One of the hives needed a tonic to give them a boost into the Winter as they were not as strong as the other hive. This is in the form of a syrup. When trickled onto the frames the bees lined up like Woodchurch pupils to get their food! In a line and very orderly.
