Now in its 16th year, World Book Day aims to help ensure as many children as possible explore the pleasures of books and reading.

On March 7th, Woodchurch High School will be holding a "Reading Drive" event in the LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE.

Pupils who borrow a library book over lunch time will receive TWO IRIS POINTS and when they return their books with a book review they will receive a certificate and a further TWO IRIS POINTS!

Mrs Cashmore and Mrs Wood will be on hand to recommend books from our new and extensive selection of amazing reads.

World Book Day aims to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own, and encouraging them to join the library. To mark the day, all school children are entitled to receive a World Book Day £1 Book Token. The Book Token can be exchanged for one of eight specially published World Book Day £1 Books, or is redeemable against any book or audio book of their choice costing £2.99 or more at a participating bookshop.

Visit the World Book Day YouTube channel at, where you’ll find messages from some of our £1 World Book Day authors and a selection of our favourite videos about a whole host of magical children’s stories.
