NATIONAL STORY-TELLING WEEK
A selected group of Year 8 pupils had a break from routine lessons on Thursday 31st January to celebrate National Story-telling Week. John Goodale, a visiting story-teller, entertained the pupils with one of his stories, created a story with them using their ideas and then ran a workshop on how to create effective short stories using his method.
The pupils had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the story-telling process. Most of them left the session feeling more confident about writing stories on their own in future.
The event was held as a link to the national competition Hay Fever, run in association with Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, on behalf of the Hay Festival. The pupils in KS3 will be encouraged to write an original short story of no more than 500 words.
