We throw away 7.2 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year in the UK, and more than half of this is food and drink we could have eaten. When we consider statistics like this, alongside the fact that many people in our world face starvation, it’s clear that things in our world are not as they should be.

These issues formed the basis for our Harvest Assemblies. We thought about our attitudes to the food we have and how we respond to the need we see in others.

We felt that although we can’t solve global food issues we can make a difference to families nearby. Each form has filled a bag with food gifts which will be distributed by year 8 pupils to those in need in our local community.
