Following on from the remarkable success of our Diamond Jubilee Reading Challenge celebrations at the end of last term which the Mayor kindly attended, we were invited to visit the Mayor’s Parlour and Council Chambers.
Pupils from Year 8 who had attended WOW, SPARKS and Reading Interventions represented Woodchurch and were (as commented by the Mayor) “A credit to themselves and the school as a whole”.
Whilst in the council chambers the Mayor highlighted his role as a Wirral Councillor as well as his duties and ceremonial responsibilities being Mayor of Wirral. Pupils were then invited to pose questions and put forward ideas for improvements to our local community and highlight their views on education and youth issues. Numerous interesting and probing questions were posed to the Mayor and he delighted in responding to them.
It was a delightful day and all pupils remarked on what an honour it was to attend.
