P. 1

Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and
                                                    eat their own bread.

                                                   2 Thessalonians 3:12

We are delighted to announce that following an inspection by the SSAT (Specialist Schools and
Academies Trust), that school has been awarded three specialisms. These were awarded for Eng-
lish, Physical Education and Initial Teacher Education.

The assessment / inspection process was very rigorous and involved the
submission of evidence prior to the visit. Staff, pupils and other stake-
holders (including some primary headteachers) were interviewed as part
             of the process.

All three subjects were graded with the highest award possible – Leading & Transforming. This is
well-deserved recognition for the work of all our staff in these three areas and once again high-
lights how Woodchurch High School continues to go from strength to strength!

Thank you to Mr Bannon, Miss Griffiths, Mrs Wilson and Mr Yarranton for their hard work in lead-
ing these areas and providing the necessary documentation.

             Staff Changes

We welcome back Miss Hurst who taught in our Science Faculty last academic year and has re-
turned as Pupil Premium Outreach and Liaison Teacher. We also welcome Mr Nixon who joins us
in the Maths Faculty and brings a wealth of experience.

After 17 years of service we said goodbye to Mrs S Wharton from our Premises Team. We wish
her a long and happy retirement.

Also leaving is Mr G Horner, a former pupil who worked in our Reprographics Team for six years
and will be sadly missed. Mr Horner has relocated with his family to the Midlands and we wish
him every success in his new job.

Please note there will be a Staff Development Day
on Friday 3rd July 2015—school will be closed to all

                                             pupils on this day
