The aims of our policy are to avoid any excessive financial burden on parents / carers and enable pupils to identify proudly with their school. The wearing of correct school uniform is considered to be of a high priority and a matter of discipline. Nail extensions and varnish are not allowed nor are extreme hairstyles such as No 1's. Staff work hard to ensure that pupils comply with the regulations.
Pupils failing to comply with the regulations or abusing their uniform will receive after school detentions, be excluded from lessons and may be refused admission to the school. One pair of gold stud or small, hooped earrings and a watch are permitted. Excessive jewellery will be confiscated and placed in the school safe until collected by parents / carers or until the next school holiday. Under no circumstances will any body or facial jewellery be allowed and pupils will be extracted from mainstream lessons until they are removed.
We would ask for parents' / carers' cooperation in these matters as failure to comply with these rules can lead to disagreement and conflict between home and school and exclusion from lessons and ultimately from school.
All pupils must wear clothing selected from the lists below:
Full school uniform is compulsory for all pupils. Pupils not in full uniform are liable to be refused admission as failure to do so is seen as a blatant disregard of school rules. In any emergency, parents may request permission in writing for pupils to wear other than full school uniform and the Headteacher is authorised to grant permission only for a very short period. Application for uniform grant should be made to: The Special Services Dept., Department of Education, Hamilton Building, Conway Street, Birkenhead.
