Mrs E Renshaw, Business Manager, Receives MBE For Services to Education
Mrs Renshaw writes, “I was delighted to be told in November that the Prime Minister had recommended to Her Majesty The Queen that I be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
This was a total and unexpected surprise and it took quite some time for it to sink in. The most difficult part was keeping it a complete secret until it was officially announced on 29th December.
I am very proud to accept the award and consider it another honour for Woodchurch High, coming just 4 years after Headteacher; Beryl Holt was awarded the OBE.
I know for this to happen a whole number of people will have played a part and I thank them, but most particularly Woodchurch High who have supported me in my 18 years at the school. I am really looking forward to going to The Palace for the investiture which will probably be in June.
I was lucky to have been nominated to take part in the Government’s national programme for Remodelling the School Workforce, piloting both the Certificate and Diploma in School Business Management. Since graduating in 2004, I have continued to be consulted in developing national training and development programmes for all support workers in schools. These programmes are now available free to all staff to improve their skills.
After 18 years, it is time to take things a bit more leisurely, so I am delighted to now be working part time. I am looking forward to supporting the school in the building programme for the new school and sharing in the school’s future successes.”
