Homework is considered to be an important aspect of school work and part of a pupil's development in independent learning. It enables pupils to continue and extend work begun during lessons. As pupils progress through the school the amount of time spent on homework increases. Homework timetables are sent out at the start of the school year and all pupils are expected to carry a Student Planner. The cooperation of parents / carers, in helping pupils to get the maximum benefit from this exercise, is much appreciated. Parents / carers are asked to check daily that the homework has been completed and to sign the student planner at the end of each week.
Form tutors and subject teachers check Student Planners daily. In addition, senior staff carry out Form Inspections throughout the year during which Student Planners, equipment and uniform are checked. In this way we are able to impress upon pupils the importance given to studying at home, and being well organised.
Although Student Planners are provided by the school, if lost, pupils are expected to make a contribution toward the cost of a new planner.
