The governing body is responsible for the conduct of the school and must promote high standards of education achievement at the school. It is the school’s accountable body. Parent and staff representatives are elected to the governing body along with other representatives from the local authority, relevant faith bodies and community governors.

  • A little about myself: I have worked in education for my whole career, firstly as a secondary science teacher and then as a Local Authority Science Consultant. I am now an independent science consultant working with schools and LAs across the North West. I also write science textbooks and resources.
    Education is a passion because I see the difference that good teachers and good schools can make, not only to a student's academic success but also to their experiences, opportunities and life choices. I am also Vice Chair of Governors at a local primary school.
    I have two great boys who make anything worthwhile!  My eldest son attends Woodchurch High while the youngest one is still in primary school.
    I also 'enjoy' exercising, especially if I can get the whole family involved.

  • A little about myself: I have been a police community support officer for 12 ½ years and have spent the past 10 years working with the community of Woodchurch. My role as a Member Appointed Governor helps me to support the staff, parents and pupils both at the school and within the community as whole. I bring to the Governing Body skills around Personnel and a local intelligence which contributes to an understanding of the context of the school. I regularly visit the school throughout the working day and attend a variety of reviews and meetings. My area of interest is Pastoral.

  • A little about myself: I worked for Birkenhead and later Wirral Education Department for 34 years before taking early retirement and working in the private sector as an Education Consultant specialising in the suitability of school buildings. Both my children attended Woodchurch High School, achieving good results and thoroughly enjoying their time in the school. When I was asked to consider becoming a governor of the school I consulted them and both said that I must do it. Their instruction was to keep the school good and help to make it better. I have two grandchildren aged four and two and look after them during the week while their parents are at work. I read anything and everything, listen to and make music and am a keen photographer.
    I regularly attend Faculty and Pastoral reviews.

  • A little about myself: I am married with one daughter who attended Woodchurch High School and am just beginning my second term as a Parent Governor during which time I have served on two sub-committees. I attended Wallasey Grammar School and since then have worked in the Civil Service for over 30 years. In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs, reading, politics and all sports.

  • A little about myself: I have worked in education for over twenty years. I started life as a secondary Mathematics teacher, working in a range of schools across Liverpool before working as part of the school effectiveness team for Liverpool Authority. For the last 12 years I have worked at Liverpool Hope University in Teacher Education, I am passionate about making sure we have trained outstanding teachers who will make a positive difference to children's lives. This is not just because I work within the field of education but because as a mother with 3 children of my own I know the impact great teachers can have on helping them to get a good start in life. Teachers and schools make a difference and governors have a role in helping schools to continue to work to improve opportunities for their pupils.
    Being a governor at Woodchurch is a great opportunity to support a school committed to the highest levels of achievement and care for all of its pupils.

  • A little about myself: Having started my career in the Primary sector I moved to teaching in Secondary schools as a History specialist, spending a number of years as a Head of Department and as a Head of a large sixth form.
    I have worked extensively with schools, local authorities and government agencies in developing teacher and initial teacher expertise and in the development of teacher training and teacher education.
    I am currently Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Education and Children's Services at the University of Chester, having previously taught at Liverpool Hope University initially leading the Secondary PGCE programme and then as Vice Dean with responsibility for Teacher Education programmes and as Director of Recruitment & External Liaison.
    I have significant experience in school development and governance and have worked on a number of new-build projects, most recently Chairing the Education Transition Group for a new £33m ecumenically sponsored Academy in Newton-Le-Willows and was Chair of Governors.
    I am also a Director and Chair of the London Diocesan Board of Schools Academy Trust. At a research level my interests lie in Education Management, Post-16 education and development and the link to lower school achievement.

  • A little about myself: I am a Church of England priest. As the Archdeacon of Chester, I have responsibility for over a hundred parishes, including those on the Wirral. I serve on the School Governing Body as a Church of England Governor, helping to encourage links between the school and the local church. I grew up in Stockport, worked for several years as a civil servant, then as a parish priest in London and in Hartlepool on Teesside before returning to the North West five years ago. It is a great privilege to be connected with Woodchurch High School – I think what the students and staff achieve here is amazing.

  • A little about myself: I originally started my working life in banking where I developed many skills, especially in the areas of finance, HR, leadership and management.
    After 20 years I left and went to college to train as a teacher. I have worked in a number of primary schools in a variety of years groups and later moved into Further Education where I spent 6 years supporting students aged 18-21 within the Faculty of Childhood Studies. I have spent the last 6 years seconded to Wirral Borough Council as a Safeguarding Officer where I have responsibility for the delivery of child protection training and for the implementation of policies and procedures for keeping children safe in our schools.
    I feel that the knowledge and skills I have gained and developed during my working life will enable me to help and support the Academy.

I am the Cabinet Member for Children Services in Wirral where I support our excellent local schools. In my spare time I like to watch football.
