Let’s Get Cooking is a national network of cooking clubs for children, families and their communities across England. Woodchurch High School has received funding for the next 3 years for cooking equipment and a range of resources to run a Let’s Get Cooking Club in school. Each term a group of pupils will have the opportunity to cook a range of recipes after school culminating in a community event. So far pupils interested in Catering from years 9 and 10 have produced a selection of “Tea Time Specials” including World Cup England Flag tartlets. Parents were invited to the final session to participate and learn new skills before sampling the foods prepared. Let's Get Cooking's mission is to get people cooking. Contact Mrs Graham is you would like to be involved.
We were proud to be awarded the CPD Mark. We were the first school on the Wirral to be recognised in this way. The CPD Mark is awarded to schools who demonstrate a commitment to staff development, which in tern results in improved outcomes for all our pupils. To achieve the CPD Mark, schools need to gain 60% in the set assessment criteria – Woodchurch achieved 100%, with no significant areas for development!
Woodchurch is one of only two schools in the North West of England to be invited to join a new and exciting programme for the training of new teachers. It was chosen because of its excellent ITE provision. The programme will initially focus upon Maths, Physics and Chemistry
The move from primary to secondary school is an exciting time for children as they step from one phase of education into another - a new phase that leads to increased independence in learning, and presents new challenges and fresh opportunities to achieve and make progress. See Video
