This was a team building exercise delivered by students from the University of Chester. The day was aimed at making our Year 7 pupils aware that Maths can be fun and exciting. Pupils were placed in teams of 4 with other classes so they were given the opportunity to work with new people and try out new skills.
All pupils worked to a very high standard and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Both of these are a murder mystery challenge using different mathematical skills
This was a number challenge looking at multiples and factors in groups
Tower of Hanoi problem solving
Leap frog sequences
Bruce Willis ‘Die Hard’ Challenge to get exactly 4 gallons of water using only a 3 gallon and a 5 gallon jug
Along with these classroom activities, all pupils took part in a Gecko challenge which was a Maths quiz race competing against their friends. Three teams did extremely well (answering all 24 questions), although 5 pupils from the X band defeated all by finishing 10 minutes early – well done to Charlotte Conlan, Ashleigh Edwards, James Moffat, Joe Wood and Elliott Fleming.
A big well done to everyone who took part in Year 7!
