As always Woodchurch High School pupils were very busy last term raising funds for a variety of local, national and international charities. As part of their Citizenship work in the Disasters and Dilemmas topic each Year 7 form organised its own fundraising event, making an excellent total of £655.15 which is being presented to Christian Aid for their work with victims of natural disasters.
Year 11 organised a Big Stir coffee morning in October raising £177.85 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Two non uniform days were held with funds being donated to Wirral Autistic Society (£450), Hounds for Heroes (£583.87) and St Martin’s in the Field Appeal (£583.87).
Also for the first time ever 24 male members of staff grew moustaches for Movember raising a fantastic £1354.93 for research into prostate cancer.
Pupils and parents donated 150 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and 45 hampers which were delivered to members of the local community. Pupils also raised £487.58p for the Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted.
All in all a grand total of donations and goods worth over £5500 was raised. Congratulation and thanks to everyone who supported with this fantastic achievement.
